More rain o’ course on account of it bein’ Rain Season, that is, Autumn, and Hem Slonnigum kicked a shiny puddle right into the bushes where it helped the rain out with waterin’ the bushers. He and his mates, Bram and Crawley, were on the fringes of the Fleep Fleep forest, exploring like they always did.

The end of a Big Rain always revealed some of the forest’s most fascinating secrets! Once, Hem and Bram (Crawley was bedridden with a case of the critters) snuck out of Gilba Gilba following a nasty Storm in particular and into the Deeps, a region of the Fleep Fleep forests that the Old Library warned against venturin’ into on account of its Atlas havin’ no maps of it! So they promptly went off to the white spaces of the map and found themselves deep in the Deeps. They came upon a stone bridge, cracked and crumbling from years of disrepair. Bridge crews like as not havin’ not any sort of awareness of the thing. Hem and Bram surmised as much as they clambered up the broken stone beams and underneath its interiors. They found there the sleepin’ bones of a Jibberjab, not a night old, crouched in a final pose of retreat. Hooooo let me tell ya they turned right around and swore not to tell another livin’ soul of what they had seen out there in the Deeps. JIBBERJABS!!! No one would believe them. Even Crawley didn’t after he had recovered from the critters.

BUT THIS TIME all three of them were on the trail. Not in search of any Jibberjabs of course (as they all chuckled nervously before setting out) but they indeed were goin’ back to the Deeps. SURELY there was something new there in the aftermath of this terrific Autumn Storm?

Just a little expository scene for this one. Nothin’ too fancy, just setting something up and keeping the gears grindin’ away. Glad you liked it, we’ll be comin’ back to these guys in a docket, but first, it’s time we check in on someone else. Who? Not sure yet. Just writing one word at a time here.
