Wasn’t there a band or troupe o’ some sort playin’ one night in the Ragged Maiden? Can’t remember but there is now. Time moved in a slow sorta fashion out here in the Assol Outlands, especial when the summer had DIED and nobody wanted to be out in the chilly evenings. Most folk found solace and refuge in the community, where there’s a hearth blazin’ and ale flowin’ and people talkin’. Well guess where that always happened? YeeeeEEEEEE the RAGGED MAIDEN o’ course and when we establish a pattern where folk’re comfortable, you got yourself a perfect spot for a bit o’ music.
So the Growlin’ Grafters were playin’ their show at the Ragged Maiden tonight. We got Grart Morgram on vocals, Bileen Starlocks on more vocals, Mop Bramgeerrrrrrr on the stringed instrument that looked like a guitar but we can’t call a guitar because them things don’t belong in this world but it’s basically a guitar. Then there’s Zeep Zam Zerrrm Zalzazem on the portable piano-lookin’ thing. They were a travelin’ troupe that liked to tour ‘round the Outlands. They’re headed for Blumberdan next, got themselves a gig at Horver’s Donkey Brocade inn, but not before they do an encore show at Gilba Glba’s Teevee’s Tavern! After that off they go into the Wildness, probably to hit up other Outland towns like Hurgabatackis and Marmarmar.
Bileen was a croonin’ out one of the crowd favorites, and indeed the song that got them so famous in the first place. No Growlin’ Grafters show was complete without The Wind She Is A Sassy One, which our lovely Starlocks had just fallen effortlessly into:
Back before my heart was torn
I wandered around in a scary storm
Oh oh oh
Whoa-oh oh…
I thought the world was mine to please
Before it brought me to my knees
Oh oh oh
Whoa-oh oh…
I thought I knew him
I thought I saw
The lies and lies he so proudly spun
The wind she is a sassy one
NOT A DRY EYE IN THE COMMON ROOM OF THE RAGGED MAIDEN AFTER THAT TEAR-JERKER FOUND ITS WAY INTO THE HEARTS OF EVEN THE MOST STALWART RUGGED FELLOW.
