Blom clasped his hands in a satisfied manner and considered the situation. It was a toughie, and likely not to be wrapped up in a short scene but we can hack at it.
“Welcome back, lad,” he said quietly. Constable Hur was moaning in pain, putting a palm up to his forehead where a bruise o’ some sort was formin’.
“Blom,” said Hem breathlessly. His two companions were also heaving in hardship. “We been runnin’ through the Forest.”
“Came from the Canyon,” supplied Bram.
“What’s this now? What’s this sorta situation? What we have goin’ on here then??” shrieked Constable Hur, who had recovered enough to emit a serious volume of noise from his mouth. “What we got? Who these thrammers? Who we got here with these thrammers? WHO’S THE LEADER? WHO’S THE THRAMMER??? WHAT—“
“Important stuff, Blom, important stuff to tell ye,” cut in Hem, ignoring the constable.
“Aye lad, mayhap we can wait a bit.”
“Can’t wait, Blom, CAN’T WAIT! JIBBERJABS BLOM! JAIBJHERJBIABGS in the CAnhy9hb!!”
“Ah ho now HO NOW!!!” cried Hur triumphantly. “Jibberjabs you say, lad? Out with it, then! Let’s hear what manner o’ phantom you think you been seein’ out there in the forest.”
Blom interrupted. “Outta here, Hur, GET OUT of my inn.” With that, he charged the spoutin’ constable and pushed him out of the open door. Briefly he considered the consequences of this action but with rumor of the Jibberjabs on more people’s lips lately he suspected the consequences of THOSE were worse. That’ll do.
“You’ll pay for this, Blomgrin,” shouted Hur from behind the closed AND LOCKED door of the Ragged Maiden. “The Crown will hear o’ this! I swear it!”
“Tell ‘em,” replied Blom, bolting the inn and then moving to some of the windows to make sure they were locked shut too. No tellin’ what Hur would do, especially if he got it into his head to bring the rest of the Gilba Gilba constabulary down here. “Lads,” he said to the three lads. “Find yourself a seat in the common room and see if you can sort yourselves out enough to tell what ya saw out there in the Canyon.”
