i remember

I remember last night in vague stretches of red and black scraped out of my mind. Looking up at the stars to keep me grounded on earth. Oh my god where is this night going? I’m packed in tight like a Jewish train passenger in the 40s. Friends are having a great time. Mel stuck her tongue out and I zeroed in on that little white paper square. I think I might have gone too far. Did you see the fairies? She asks me. Yeah I think so. An army of them. Red lights of intent. Honestly that’s all I remember.

I remember waking alone the next morning in a strange bright place. A hammock. Hammock town. Welcome to Hammock Town. You’re the only one here. This is the waystation on your path to madness. Have a nice trip. You’ve broken your brain and this what it’s like. But look around. You can get out of here. Just walk back.

I remember thinking, god damn.
