Camping Difficulties
March 03, 2019 - 415 words
The rain was cold and relentless. It beat down upon Link and Zelda, snuffing their weak campfire and soaking their clothes to sopping wet messes. "Just as the Fairy Oracle predicted," muttered Zelda, her hair plastered to her face.
"We'll be used to it before long," answered Link with a wry smile that proved he had a sense of humor and could find the best in ANY SITUATION including this one which was happening right now that they found themselves in.
"Well I hope not," said Zelda in a huff. She wiped her face and shook her head in annoyance. "How long before this lets up?"
"I don't know. I can't know these things for these things cannot be known."
"I'm just asking."
"Okay."
Zelda didn't answer and instead ruffled through her pack to find a bit of dried up meat and cheese salted with light salt that was mined in the salt mines of Sallltttttttt Town. They had passed through there earlier in the day and found the pickings were good so they stocked up. "Food"?
"Yeah sounds good, whatcha got? Whatcha whatcha whatcha whatcha whatcha whatcha got in that there lil' pack?"
"Can you fuckin'--"
"Because I'm really hungry and all I have is uncooked boar meat," Link said. "Can't cook a meat without a fire to cook that meat as they say in the Old Territories."
"I"m aware they do say that," said Zelda slowly. "Cooked meat and cheese is what I have."
"Okay."
Zelda pulled two big things of whatever out of her pack and they munched in silence, letting the rain come down in torrents. They had managed to find rudimentary shelter against a rock wall but that did not protect them from the cold, which indeed was fierce. Lightning flashed and illuminated the canyons.
"You can see the Tower in the distance if you pay attention," Link pointed out after a few minutes. Their destination was silhouetted against the bright flashes of angry lightning.
"And we're sure the leader of the Vuruvuer Clan is going to be there?" Zelda was skeptical of this whole side quest, but they couldn't afford to ignore any clue that could bring them closer to the Light Arrows. Without them, they could not defeat GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAMMMMMMMNONONNNONNN.
"We can't be sure of anything, but we can be sure of this."
"Okay."
"Good food, huh."
"Yeah."
"Pretty good."
"Better than that Burblam Bee Brama Beamme Beama Beope Boeppeppe Beeeme Fruit we found the other day."
"Haha."
"Haha."
